Humming Bee Breath

Human Design is funny yet liberating because it often validates in a logical format what you already know to be true for yourself. For example, I have the Channel of Structuring (43-23). I'm only concerned with my own knowing; I have to understand things for myself. But people talk so much, and it is hard to "hear myself think," as my father would often say (he has Gate 43).

This somatic practice is great and so easy. Not only do I find it calming for my nerves, but I also find it conducive to helping me "hear myself" and return to my own inner center.

Humming Bee Breath | bhramari pranayama

Instructions:

Sit or stand. Place your index and middle fingers over your eyes. Press your thumbs on the tragus of your ears to lightly plug them. Inhale through the nose. Exhale slowly, humming 5–10 seconds. Repeat 5–10 rounds.

Effect:

Calms the nervous system by stimulating the vagus nerve. Balances emotion. Stimulates throat, sinuses, and inner hearing.

Note:

Do not press hard on eyes or ears. Shorten rounds if needed.
