EFT Tapping

EFT Tapping

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Tapping

Emotional Freedom Techniques, known as EFT tapping, is a simple and accessible somatic tool that has been effective for me in moving emotional energy and anxious sensations. The method was created in the 1990s when doctors explored acupressure points to manage fear, stress, and phobias. EFT uses fingertip pressure on key acupoints to guide the flow of energy along the body's pathways.

The Tapping Solution, my favorite guide for this practice, offers clear instruction through free videos and an app. I used the app religiously during a difficult, anxiety-inducing period of life and I was so grateful for how effectively it helped me manage stress. I couldn't change my circumstance, I had to walk through it, but tapping was a simple way for me to reassure my body and nervous system that it was going to be ok.

As we shift our minds from the not-self illusion of control to passenger consciousness, tapping becomes a simple act of self-stewardship to keep in your toolbox. Actually "living out" faith is difficult when the fight or flight response rises, but practices like this help us move toward it.

Instructions:

‣ Choose an issue or emotion and rate it 0 to 10
‣ Create a setup phrase such as: “Even though I feel this, I accept myself”
‣ Tap each point (see diagram above) 5 to 7 times with your fingertips, saying the phrase or whatever you are feeling with each new point:

1) Side of hand
2) Eyebrow
3) Side of eye
4) Under eye
5) Under nose
6) Chin
7) Collarbone
8) Under arm
9) Top of head
‣ Breathe deeply and re-rate the intensity of your emotion. Repeat until the charge drops.

Effect:

Calms the nervous system and releases emotional pressure. Interrupts stress patterns by helping the body process fear, worry, and old stories. Supports clearer thinking and steady emotion.

Human Design Note:

▴ Supports open or undefined Solar Plexus centers who absorb emotional energy from others and need a release valve. Still worth experimenting if you have a defined Solar Plexus, I just notice defined SP people seem to be more stable in their emotional process since their bodies are made to hold the chemistry of the emotional wave.
▴ Supports open or undefined Head and Root centers who feel pressure to think about or do things the body does not want to engage with. Both of my pressure centers are undefined, so tapping is really effective for me in offloading the pressure so I can actually pay attention to my sacral authority.
